First Day of Shooting
I think our second day of filming went quite well. We were able to shoot all of the shots we had planned to shoot for that day. Unfortunately we had a slight hick up before hand because we had initially planned to use bikes in our music video however mine had been stolen the week before we planed to film. So my partner and I struggled to find a way to replace me being on my bike until we decided I could roller skate instead. Some parts of the filming were quite difficult as we were trying to get tracking shots of the guys on bikes by me roller skating along side or being pulling along by someone riding a bike. When we planned it, it seemed pretty easy to do but I actually found it difficult as I was holding on to someones bike and at the same time to hold the camera steady. Fortunately after a few attempts I was able to hold it in the right position long enough for the shots we needed. Throughout the day there was on and off rain and hail stones. This caused continuous changes to the lighting in the park but we still shot the scenes we needed when it looked almost the same. Getting the match on action shots wasn't a problem as I was able to use a tripod to hold the camera in the correct place while the action in the scene happened. Overall I think the day quite well we were able to get all of the shots needed with little problems.

Editing and Camera Techniques
In our music video we will be using different editing techniques through out our video. For example one of the editing techniques I will use is a jump cut this when you have an action but is cut into the different points in time as the action is happening, for example we will have a shot of us riding down a hill in Richmond park. At first will shoot us at the top of hill, then roughly half way and followed by when we get to the bottom. I think this technique will be a good one to use because it will be a good technique to match with the music.
Another video editing technique will use is a cutaway . This cut involves a shot of an action which is cut to a shot of something else which is then cut but is then cut back to the previous shot. We will be using this shot often when we show the watch face to the audience, this will amplify the effect that its a race against time for them to get their free food.
A graphic match is another editing technique I will be using. It is when there is a shot of something like an object which is cut to another object which is a similiar shape. We will use this by showing a watch and then showing a bicycle wheel spinning.

I will also use a match on action shot in my music video. A match on action consists of an action starting in shot A which continues into shot B. We will use this when the characters in the video are riding there bikes, as they ride towards the camera at a fixed point in the first shot the second will show the boys riding past.
Camera Techniques:
Throughout my video I will be using a variety of different camera techniques for example tracking shots will be used in my music video. A tracking shot is the movement of the camera following an action. I would use this shot whilst the boys are riding bikes through a park, I may do this by using my roller skates and trying my best to hold the camera steady or I may even hold the back of one of my mates bikes while he pulls me along. Using this technique may make the audience feel they are within the video.
I think I will use a tilt in my music video as well. Atilt is similar to a pan however the shot is moving vertically and not horizontally from a fixed point. I would use this in my video possibly when the main character is going down the stairs, I can shoot the shot from the bottom of the stairs and tilt down as he goes down the stairs.
Another camera technique I am going to use is a point of view shot. This is a shot of what ever the character is able to see at that moment in time so you are basically seeing through there eyes. I will use this when the boys are riding their bikes. I think I might do it by tapping the camera to the handle bars of their bike or tape it to a helmet. Using this camera technique will place the audience in the video and should make it more engaging for the audience preventing them from getting bored.

More Music Video Research
Costume:
In most videos in the genre of Dubstep and Drum & Bass music videos the characters will usually have casual clothes on. It depends on what type of music video they have. In quite a few music videos in this genre they feature a raving scene were they will have an artist performing so the people you see in the video are wearing normal clothes, nothing that is very fancy. Our music video will follow these conventions in terms of the clothes, the characters will be wearing their usual riding clothes. Selecting this costume will help the target audience to identify with the costumes in my music video. This is because the people in my target audience wear similar cloths to what my characters will be wearing.
Location:
Music videos for our genre are typically filmed in London if it is a narrative music video but it can be located any ware if it is a performance based video. Our music video will be filmed in various parts of London as the main character is picking up his mates to get free food. I think having different locations in London will show show people who don't live in London some of the scenery they not have seen before. One of our locations is Richmond park, I like this park because it has loads of greenery and dears so we should be able to get quite a few nice shots.

Props and Lighting:
In our video we will be using bikes through out the video going all over London. This will be th main prop we will be using. Obtaining the bikes wont be a problem as the bikes we plan to use belong to the two other guys who are in our video who I usually go rinding with so it shouldn't be a problem unless something happens like one of our bikes brakes or gets stolen. If that were to happen my partner and I would try and use something else instead of bikes for example roller skates. We will be filming most of our footage outdoors during the morning through to the afternoon so it should be nice and bright. One of our scene will be shot at night but the lighting should be fine because the street is well lit by street lamps.

Animatic Comments
After showing my class the animatic about my music video they gave me some feedback to help me make it better.
Comments:
"At the end it could be a concert instead of a chicken"
I thought this was a good idea because of the genre of the music is something people you listen to both dub-step and drum and bass the audiences are usually party goers. The only problem I had was most people don't arrive at parties or club by bike.
"More close ups"
I like the idea of having a few more close ups because it might help show the audience the determination of the riders to get to the shop before it closes.
"Could show Marble Arch at night"
I had shown in the animatic us in Marble Arch but it was during the day. At night I think it could look pretty good because the lights on Marble Arch will be lit up in the back ground. To add to this they were saying we could add the glow lights to the spokes of our wheels i thought that to could look quite cool so I may try and get some depending on the price.
"Show poster at start"
At the start of the video someone was saying I should show a poster advertising the free food. I thought this idea made sense as it shows were the boys are going, so this is something I plan to include.

My Three Favourite Music Videos
Media Music Video
DJ Fresh – Loader
What I plan to use from these videos:
DJ Fresh - Loader
In my music video I will be using a lot of action thoughout the video to keep up the energy to match the song. My video will have my and my mates riding our bikes through different parts of london. However unlike in DJ Freshes video I dont want a lot of vibrant colours instead I want it to have a gritty london feel to instead too show the real london. I think this will appeal to my target audience because the grittyness of London is something the audience will be able to identify with as the Londoners will know what London is like and those who do not live in London will get an insight into what London is like.
Michael Jackson – Thriller
Like this video I will have a story so I can make it a narrative music video. My story is about a boy who finds out a resturant is offering free food but you have to get there before a certain time. So he decides to get a couple of his mates to go with but by the time they get there unfortunately its closed. I chose to do this to add a bit a comedy to the video. I think audiences will like the narrative aspect of the video because the story isn't serious it will be fun to watch also the audience will be able to anticipate what will happen at the end of the video and when the arrive at the restaurant. The humour is also something the audience will enjoy as most people to enjoy laughing.
Gorillaz - 19-2000
From this video i have taken the idea that there are all on there somewere. The difference is in this video the characters are chilling on their way to their destination, were as in my video were in a rush to get to the resturant before it closes. I would love to create an animated clip to fit into my video but my drawing ability isn't that good.
DJ Fresh – Loader
I like the video not only because I love the song but also content of the video. I enjoy doing loads of different activities for example cycling, roller blading, and kayaking. So the thing I like about this video is it has a ton of people doing things that I like to do and having a good time while doing so. I also like all of the vibrant colours that being used it help you to really enjoy the video. The use of slow motion is also pretty as it slows down someone doing a trick while the tempo of music has slowed down. The use of these props (roller skates, skateboards etc) is something I plan want to also use my music video but instead of roller skates the main prop would be fixed gear bikes.
Michael Jackson – Thriller
Thriller is one of my favourite music videos because its like watching a short film and throughout the video you don’t want to stop watching as it keeps you engaged continuously. I really like the use of zombies werewolf’s because they are themes in horror films I like the most like, along with that the zombies doing the dancing in huge group was really memorable.
Gorillaz - 19-2000
I often watch anime (Japanese cartoons) because I find them pretty entertaining. So the fact that the Gorillaz are a cartoon band it think is pretty cool, I like this video because all of the characters are together driving along a highway but they include some good action scenes for example when they attempt to shoot down a gigantic moose but it blows It back and they blow up.

Question 3. Preferred Music Genre's?
Question 4. Do you watch Music Videos?
Question 5. What do you like to see in music videos?
Question 6. How do you watch your
music video?
Question 7. Do you like bright colours

Question 8. Do you like fast paced
action music videos?
Question 9. Do you like to see the artist perform?
Question 10. Do you like videos set in london?
The results of this survey will help me to decide on what things I should include in my music video. For example my partner and I are likely to make the music video full of action as that is what the audience like to see according to the results from question 8 as it scored highly. Also I think my partner and I are more likely to try make the video look quite gritty, it looks like audiences like to see like to see bright and gritty music videos 50/50. So i would prefer to make it gritty because it shows a more realistic view of London. My partner and I had already planned to shoot the video in London and the results of the survey strengthen our choice as this is what audiences like to see.

Music Video Research
In lesson we watched a few music videos from different genres and our task was to comment on aspects of the video we liked.
Katy Perry - Firework
What would I use in my music video:
Katy Perry - Firework
- I thought the use of CGI to create fireworks beaming out of the different characters was a pretty cool effect. I also thought it was an interesting way to show the characters are coming out of their and shining bright.
- The split between the narrative storytelling and the performance was done quite well because because you are able to see enough narrative scenes to understand what the video is about, but you also get to see her performing.
- The pace of the video matched the song quite well, for example the tempo of song picked the scenes were cut together faster.
- I thought the locations were also quite good I likd the fact that she wasn't in the same place throughout the video.
- Overall I thought it was a good video it made me feel as though I could take on the world.
What would I use in my music video:
- In my music video like this one I would like to use more than one location. This is because I want to keep the video interesting and entertaining. Also because my characters will be on bicycles I want it too seem like the characters are travelling across London to reach their destination.
- I will also use a narrative for my music video it will give the audience a story to follow so they audience will remain engaged with the video to see the final result.
Nicky Minaj - Super Bass
- One thing I liked about this video is it is quite memorable, because of all the various things going on. This means the audience will find it easier to remember the song.
- There is also a lot of energy making you want to get up and dance along.
- There is a variety of scenary and costume changes which keeps it entertaining all the through the video.
- The use of the blacklight was a pretty cool effect it was something different from the usual
- Throughout the video there are sexual scenes which people often like to see.
What I would use in my Video:
- In my video like this one I want there to be a lot of energy throughout. This is because the song itself is quite fast paced so I want the video to have a lot of energy to match it.
- Like this music video I want mine to be quite different, this will make my music video more memorable. Doing this would lead to more people buying the single.
Adele - Rolling in The Deep
- There isn't much going on throughout the video, as Adele is sitting on a chair singing, but there are others who people in the video doing stuff, for example the person dancing in the sand, and the guy plaing the drums in the corner. I think this made the video pretty unique.
- The location of the video match the mood of the song. As the song it quite sad and location is grey and gloomy.
- The action that was taking place during the song matched the beat.
- The showed her release of emotion quite well.
What would I use in my Video:
- There is not much I would take from this video, this is because like I said earlier this video is quite simple and slow however I want mine to be fast paced with more actions going on making it more entertaining.
- I think one thing I would take from this video is its grittyness, that is something I want to show in my music video also.
Foo Fighters - Walk
- I liked this video because it was quite humurous though out so it was entertaining and enjoyable.
- The events that was happening in the scene matched the song.
- I liked the performance by the whole band at the end of the video.
- The storyline of the video I thought was pretty good I liked how he went to all the different places and bad stuff kept happening.
What i would use in my Video:
- I will take the humour aspect of this video and include it into my own. I want audiences to find the story of my video funny so it will make it more enjoyable to watch.
Britney Spears - Till the World Ends
- I like the set of the video the undergound feel I think was pretty good.
- There was a lot of dancing in the video that makes you want to go party and have a good time.
- The CGI effects were pretty cool, it helped the video to match the song.
- The use of slow motion was in time with the music when the tempo slowed down.
What I would use in my Video:
- I would like to use some slow motion shots in my music video, this will make whatever scene it is look more important and things often do look better in slow motion.

Possible New Music Video
When I showed my initial music video idea to the class they as a whole suggested I something different as there is more i could do with my genre of song choice. So I am now considering an idea I had before the one I presented. It was going to mainly feature me and my mates riding around London on our fixed gear bikes.

Music VIdeo Pitch Feedback
The comments I got from music video was pretty constructive, which I found quite useful. Although I do quite like the idea I had pitched to the class they thought I should go in a different direction.
Here are a few commonets I received:
"The storyline is practical with a few problems that can be easily overcomed"
I agree with this comment I tried to make a storyline that I knew would be possible to shoot without having many problems anpart from the weather.
-
"Need more loactions"
I agree with this as well in my pitch I had only showed two locations because I hadn't thought of any others yet.
"How is it different to other videos"
It wasn't going to be much different to other videos because I was trying to conform to dubstep videos that tell a story.
"The editing needs to be fast paced to match the song"
When I start my editing I will deffinatly cut the shots together to make it more fast paced.
"Does the storyline match the song?"
Quite a few people in the class said the same thing in their feedback, I personally thought it did match the storyline because there are very few words in the song which are:
Innocence...you'll never be mine.
I got my storyline form this because the main character is trying to get a girl that he'll never get because when he does he gets beaten up.
"You could be more adventurous with the story"
Yes I was thinking the same thing, but I was thinking more practically when I came up with this idea. So shooting the shots for my storyline I knew were certainly possible. I didn't want to make an amazing storyline that I wouldn't be able to shoot.

MoodBoard
This is a mood board for my music video. It is supposed to create a theme for music video allowing people to get feel for what my video will be about. It has different aspects of the video I will try to include, for example it has the man on his bike having a good time. This is because I want my video to be montage of a couple of my mates and I having a good time on bikes attempting to do tricks. The tools and tool kit are a representation of us fixing our bikes when they have a problem. The image of people in the park is because that is were my mates and I would usualy go riding.

Evaluation Question 7
I have learnt various things from my preliminary task which came to quite useful in the making of my movie opening. For example when making this prelim task was the first time I had used the the titles. Once I had figured out how to do it I found it quite easy to do different things with them like roll and scroll. I was able to use the things learnt in my prelim task in my movie opening to make my titles look pretty good. I liked the way we added a gradient to the movie name to make it look like knives that have just stabbed someone. I was able to use different shots in my prelim task which I used in my movie opening for example an establishing shot. In my movie opening it was a long shot that showed the main character and the surrounding area, my prelim task showed me it was a good way to set the seen allowing the audience to see the location. Also I learnt from the editing of my prelim task because I was able to cut two scenes together to make it look like a seamless making a match on action.

Evaluation Question 5 - How did you attract/address your audience?
My movie attracted my audience in various ways. I wanted my movie to relate to teenagers as much as possible, we done this by trying to include scenarios that your teenagers would encounter on a regular basis. For example the main character is waiting at a bus stop by himself waiting for his mates. His then then sneak up on him and pretend jump him. This I think is common among teenage boys as they often like to play fight. Our location would also attract our target audience because it set in London. This will attract audiences because thy would like to see locations that look familiar to them because it makes it look more realistic. I think audience would like this because it may make the audience feel like it could happen to them just as easily as it happened to the characters in my movie.
The audiences I think will be attracted to our movie because its set in he day time. This goes against the conventions of your typical horror movie, as they are usually st in the night time. This could attract audience because its something different, than usual. They would possibly be curious as to how scary a horror film can be in the daylight.
Our film addresses they audience as it gives them something to think about when they are about to do something they know they shouldn't. This is because the characters decided to go and have a look at the house even though they had heard the story of Jenkins. This will make the audience about the consequences next time they do something they know they probably shouldn't as they characters go to see the house and if I was able to shoot the full film they would all have been killed.

Evaluation Question 6
What Have You learnt About Technologies From The Process Of Constructing this Project?
I have been using technology throughout the making of my movie opening in various ways. For example one of the most important pieces of technology would be the Sony Cam recorder I used to film my footage because it is good quality and fairly easy to use.
Adobe Premiere Pro has been an important piece of software because it allowed me to cut different video footage together and also add audio when I started using it i found it quite difficult to use as there are many tools available that do different jobs so I kept forgetting what they did, but as I continued to use it, it became quite simple to use and I could do things a lot quicker.
Fl Studio is a music producing piece of software which i sometime use at home so i was quite easily able to make my horror music after listening to a few theme tunes like Jaws and the song from Friday The 13. The music i made went well my movie opening so i was pleased with the outcome.
I had to use microphones to record an audiotrack because the audio I had from cam recorder was disrupted by the sound of traffic and lots of wind so me and my partner decided to do a voice over which was good because we was able to do it in a quiet room with no noise.
Adobe Photoshop CS3, I used this software to make my production company logo called Roundhouse Films. At first i didn't know how to use photoshop but i quickly learnt by watching tuorials on youtube.
Video on Demand
Video on Demand are systems which allow users to choose and watch media content on demand. IPTV technology is often used to bring video on demand to televisions and personal computers.
Television VOD systems either stream content through a set-top box, a computer or other device, allowing viewing in real time, or download it to a device such as a computer, portable media player for viewing at any time. The majority of cable- and telco-based television providers offer both VOD streaming, including pay-per-view and free content, whereby a user buys or selects a movie or television program and it begins to play on the television set almost instantaneously, or downloading to a DVR rented from the provider, or downloaded onto a pc, for viewing whenever they want. Internet television, (using the Internet), is an increasingly popular form of video on demand.
Some airlines offer VOD as in-flight entertainment to passengers through individually-controlled video screens embedded in seatbacks or armrests or offered by using portable media players. Airline VOD systems allow passengers to select specific stored media content and play it on demand including pause, fast forward, and rewind.
Sky Anytime is an example on VOD systems. This allows sky users to watch movies, sports or HD programmes on demand.

Evauation Question 4
Who Would Be The Audience for Your Media Product?
As you can see from my picture above my target audience will be teenagers aging 15-19 but my seconary target audience are adults ranging from 20+ they may also be interested in my film because its not exclusive to teenagers. The target audience I have chosen enjoy watching horror film action, comedy, teen movies but mostly horror films, this has been shown in a survey i carried out in my school. This is what I am looking for because my film is a horror and will contain parts of action and slight comedy to appeal to a wider audience.
The general form of transport used by my audience is the bus because its free and they can't drive this will show aspects of london as bus its a commonly used form of tranpsort by all Londoners. Their favored type of drink would be fizzy drink for example: Coke, Fanta, Sprite, KA and redbull. Teenagers tend to watch TVquite often when relaxing at home, the most popular shows watched are: Misfits, The inbetweeners and skins They like to play football. They love to go to chinese restaurants and nandos. For cereal they would eat frosties or coco-pops. On weekends there busy going out with friends to the cinema and going shopping.

Evaluation Question 3
When making a film there are various ways allowing you to get funding to produce a film. One way you can get funding is by getting a grant from government schemes to encourage creativity and new talent. Another way is Local councils will often put money towards a short film making initiative, especially if it deals with social exclusion or aids the local community in some way. If I needed to distribute my film I would want to have a distributor who will distribute my films to cinemas all over the world so my movie production will be able to get a global audience, which will allow it to be successful and make lots of money.
In an ideal world I would choose 20th Century fox to distribute my film as they have had great success distributing films like Avatar which made a gross of $2,782,275,172. They have also distributed films in my horror genre which have done well for example Alien which made a gross of $185,000,000 these figures show 20th century fox are good at distributing films successfully. 20th Century Fox is a well respected organisation so if they were to distribute my film our audience would be more willing to watch it because they will expect it to be pretty good.
Using 20th Century fox would let my film be played in large cinema organisations such as Odeon, Vue and Cineworld, because they are the cinemas that our target audience will go to watch movies. This is because they would usually show large American films because they're the type of films most cinema goers want to watch, maybe because of the use visual effects for example Transformers which is a CGI based film which attracts people because the special effect are done well also the marque names involved in the films attracts an audience.

Evaluation Question 2
The characters from attack the block represent our social group because they are wearing standard cloths teenagers would may wear when out on the street for example hoodies and and hats, this is a stereotype to black youths in London which we have followed. This relation would appeal to young people who live in London because its the environment they live in and the characters in our films go through everyday events which youths in London would experience. The colours the characters in our film are wearing mainly, dark this helps to show the time of year as people wear dark cloths in the winter and helps to present the correcety mise-en-scene. A difference between the characters in my film compared to attack the block is: our characters are wearing their cloths like a normal teen however the characters in attack the block are dressed as vandals who are about to do some type of crime.
Instead of sticking to the stereo type of it being a group of girls who get attacked at the beginning of a horrror film our attacker is attacking a masculine group of young menwe have done this to show a group of men are jus as vulnerable as a group of women. One of our characters isn't as brave as the other two characters as he is spooked out by the story of the man and his house and doesn't want to go inside, this tends to happen quite frequently in horror films because the is usaully on person who thinks what they are doing is a bad idea but ends up following the others and dieing anyway. In attack the block as you can see from the picture on the left the character in the middle has the most power within the group because he is standing in the middle and throughout the film th other characters tend to follow his lead.

Evaluation Question 1
I think my media production relates to the normal horror movie conventions in a number of ways and we have developed different aspects to our film and made it our own.
For example in our short film the first scene had one of the charactors standing at the bus stop by himself listening to music, this is to show everything appears to be normal but little does he know its all about to change. This has been shown in various horror films for example The first exorcist directed by William Friedkin. The girl appears to be normal at the begginging of the film but developed into a girl possessed by a demon.
The characters costumes are of tht of normal london teenagers, this is to show they are anware something is going to happen as they are on there way to someones house. This is done in all genres of movies not only horror for example in The Hills Have Eyes 2 the characters are wearing combat uniform this is because the characters are all i the army doing some training however in Halloween the characters are teenagers s they are wearing normal cloths they would were to college.
The film is set in London at a bus stop as the boys are waiting for bus. They then have to take a divertion through the park and into a forrest becuase one of the characters forgot there oyster card. When the audience finds out the have to take a detour they will autimatically know somethign bad is going t happen becuase thing never go according in a horror film for example in Wrong Turn the characters take a wrong as it says in the tittle then they get attacked by hillbilly cannibals.
During our movie opening we were able to match the titles with the actors in the film, if this was a real film it would allow the audience to know who is playing the characters in the film. The font we used has a spooky appearance which is appropriate as it is a horror film.
We didn't use much special effects in our movie opening. It is used once because on of the characters leaves his buss pass at home on his bed so to show this we took a shot of a bus pass on my bed and edited it to black and white to show its a past event he is remembering.
